Our Curriculum

The Educate Walk with Purpose Mathematics Curriculum

Marshall Mathematics Method M3

Mathematics curriculum that addresses all Texas TEKS, we use backward lesson design to ensure alignment in content and in rigor for grades 6, 7, 8 and Algebra 1

T

Shorter Teaching, Longer Practice

Lessons are designed with shorter teach pieces, comprising 25% of the lesson; while 75% of the lesson is for student practice.

T

Students learn by doing, less teacher talk

During independent practice, teachers “Walk with Purpose” (similar to the Academic Monitoring model introduced by Bambrick-Santoyo.

T

Teachers provide feedback

Teachers question, scaffold, differentiate, and extend.

The curriculum includes a daily spiral to ensure long term retention and is a form of informal assessment. Also included is a comprehensive assessment system with bi-weekly quizzes and comprehensive grading period common assessments.

Ultimate Objective – Fluency in Algebra

While the Texas TEKS are one objective, the ultimate objective of M3 is to develop Algebra fluency, thus ensuring post-secondary readiness. In 2015, the State of Texas moved Integers and 1-step equations and multiple representations to 6th grade, 2-step equations to 7th grade, and equations with variable on both sides to 8th grade. Essentially this makes middle school responsible for Algebra fluency. Once these concepts are introduced, they are spiraled daily.

Since 2021, M3 has been completely re-designed to include the rigor of the new item types.
